Type the key combination you would like to use as a shortcut for the selected program. The combination must begin with 'Ctrl' plus 'Alt.' For example, 'Ctrl + Alt + V' could be a keyboard shortcut. I'd like to create a keyboard shortcut or hotkey that will paste this text phrase wherever I have placed my cursor in a text input field (Apple Mail, Microsoft Word, TextEdit, TextWrangler, browser windows, etc.) rather than constantly copying and pasting from a sticky note.

Get startedFor keyboard shortcuts that require two or more keys to be pressed simultaneously, the keys are separated by a plus sign (+). If you have to press one key immediately after another, the keys are separated by a comma (,). Many keyboards assign special functions to function keys, by default. To use the function key for other purposes, you have to press Fn+the function key. On a Mac keyboard, the Command key is denoted with the symbol. For information about changing the key assignment of a keyboard shortcut, see Mac Help for your version of the Macintosh operating system (OS) or see your utility application. Also see Keyboard Shortcuts in OneNote for Mac later in this topic. If a function key doesn't work as you expect it to, press the Fn key in addition to the function key.
